We are who we’ve been waiting for.
The Bohemian Athlete is You. Is Me. Is Us.
The day we are born the great gift within us begins to get covered up by the weight of the world. The days, the decades pass by, and if we are truly aware, we come to realize we can no longer breathe. We realize we hurt inside. We realize there is a pain we can’t shake, and its origin is not physical. We try to avoid it. We try to self-medicate it. We try to distract ourselves with work and hobbies and relationships. We look outside ourselves in an attempt to fill the void, stop the ache, numb the pain, and make it stop. Yet over time, the suffocation becomes so intense, so unbearable. Exhausting all options, we realize the only solution is to go inside. Suddenly, we are compelled to go deeper. We realize the old way of living no longer serves us. We realize there must be more than mere survival. We want more. We must have more.
Done with being the puppet or the robot, we dive deep out of desperation. And then it happens. We begin to see the light. An inner light, and it’s shining. Although it seems so far away, we somehow know it is within reach. We realize it’s been there all along, patiently waiting to be discovered, uncovered, and exposed. Although this is what we deeply yearn for, it can also be terrifying. To be exposed. To be vulnerable. To be seen. To be light.
And in that moment we begin to hear, “We are who we’ve been waiting for.”
I encourage you to feel the ache inside. The ache of your soul. Don’t turn away. Don’t leave this moment. Don’t look for distractions. Stay. Wait. Feel. All you seek is in this moment, right here, deep in the ache, in the pain. Take a deep breath. And another. Feel your breath move up to your head and down to your feet, like waves of the ocean filling every cell of your body, let the tide carry your breath. Let the sea wash over you. Breathe.
Now, take your vision inward. Use your inner senses. What do you see? What do you hear? Deep calls to deep. What do you intuitively know? Breathe. What pictures surface? What sounds fill the moment? Beyond the experience of pain is a great sea of peace and abundance. A well of words. A merging of worlds. Calm. Quiet. Serene. Enter the eye of the storm. And Breathe. Anchor into the space between your hips. Breathe.
What is the deeper truth? About yourself? About life? About others? What needs to be spoken, communicated, and expressed? What is holding you back from being fully you? Feel the ocean carry you, allow the water to hold you. Breathe.
Listen to the call to step out of your closet, your self-imposed jail cell, your cage of isolation. No one else holds the key; you do. And catch this, the door is unlocked. The door is unlocked. I invite you to take a step forward. Step one. Light. Step two. More light. Keep going.
Look to the horizon. Look to the light. The light flickers. The spectrum appears. Follow it. You can trust the light. Free yourself. You can free yourself. The Bohemian Athlete in you knows the way. We move to shine. We rest in motion. We live in the light. We are the light. Know this: The Spirit within you is rooting for you. As soon as you let go of the chains, you’ll realize they were an illusion all along. Allow the shift within your spirit to occur and listen to the voice calling you beyond who you think you are and encouraging you to step into who you were always born to become. That moment is now. Go.
As you step into your light, I will be waiting for you. And will walk with you to and through the most important journey, the wildest adventure you could ever choose to embark upon. Just like a caterpillar entering the chrysalis before becoming the butterfly, this is a sacred process, a rite of passage.
